Yalif

Army overview:

Fielding a Yalif army offers players the opportunity to construct a barbarous force centred around brutal warriors who excel in hand-to-hand combat. A highly mobile army, with steeds including horses and camels, a Yalif player also has different cavalry options, too. In addition, though most Yalif units are melee focused, the army’s missile troops do offer some ranged fire power.

Excelling in close combat, a Yalif warlord (General unit) can enter battle on foot, mounted upon a horse or camel, or riding upon a chariot. Highly versatile, Champions units (of which up to two can be taken) and Magic Users units (of which a maximum of one can be taken) are both available on foot or upon a horse, camel, or chariot, too.

Yalif players have access to a number of Foot Troops units, including Yalif Warriors, Yalif Spearmen, Yalif Archers, Yalif Shock Warriors, Yalif Slingers, Yalif Shield-Maidens, and Yalif Pack Master and Pack. Meanwhile, Mounted Troops which a Yalif player can call upon include Yalif Hose Riders and Yalif Camel Riders, the latter of which benefit from the Camel Kick special rule (as well as the Stubborn Beast special rule).

When it comes to Machines of War, horse-drawn chariots are common within Yalif armies, otherwise Yalif forces steer away from the use of war machines. Valuing the brute force offered by such creatures, Monsters units within a Yalif army include Ogres, Giants, Yalif War Elephants, and the Elephant Bird.

Yalif Magic Cards:

Below are Shadows of Centralis Yalif Magic Cards (Magic Spells originally printed in the Shadows of Centralis book) which can be printed out, fixed to card, and used in games.

Models:

Shadows of Centralis can be played with models from any manufacturer, below are a few ideas for armies of the Yalif. Gripping Beast produce a wide range of models which can be used in armies of the Yalif. The company’s Ben Yusef and Iman figures are great for using as Yalif Seers, while their Moor and Mutatawwi’a ranges make great additions to Yalif armies as General, Champions, and Foot Troops units.

Warlord Games’ El Cid Ben Yusefs Black Guard miniatures are ideal for using as Yalif Spearmen.
